Short Documentary Film of Paintings and Sculpture
by Jazz Great Herb Alpert to be Shown at the Screening Room, May 1-8


New York, NY -- Herb Alpert: Music for Your Eyes, a 35mm, 28-minute documentary, written and directed by Academy Award nominee Tom Neff, will be shown publicly for the first time on May 1-8, 2002 at the Screening Room cinema and restaurant at 54 Varick Street (on the corner of Canal). The film, which will premiere by invitation only at the Walter Reade Theatre at Lincoln Center in April, features Herb Alpert, the legendary musician and record producer, at work in his studios painting and sculpting. The soundtrack of the film is co-composed and performed by Alpert.

The film is based on the retrospective exhibition, Herb Alpert: Music for Your Eyes, organized by Executive Director Lois Riggins-Ezzell, Tennessee State Museum in Nashville. The exhibition, on view at the Museum from August 3 to September 30, 2001, featured more than 75 paintings and 40 sculptures created between 1978 and 2001.
